Scottish Field Magazine – Photo Feature

This is my first post in a while, in fact looking at the control panel for my blog it would appear that it is a year since I last posted an entry on here. Its been a busy year for me so far with a lot of time taken up with moving in to a new house and there’s not really been much time for photography. Over the last few weeks I’ve managed to get out a bit more for photos which has been good.

As some of you will know from an earlier post on the blog I had been trying out the Olympus Pen E-PM1 which is a Micro Four Thirds system camera (MFT). After using the camera for the best part of a year I decided to take the plunge and sell my old Canon EOS digital system to buy a higher spec MFT body and in early April this year I purchased an Olympus OMD-EM10 body along with an Olympus 45mm lens. I’m still getting used to the camera but I’ve been pretty happy it so far and I feel that it far outperforms my old Canon and has the added benefit of being smaller and much much lighter. The latest images in the Moray and Skye albums are taken with the new camera.

Anyway, the main reason for this post is to share some exciting news with you all. Earlier this week I received an email from the Creative Editor at Scottish Field Magazine asking if it would be possible for them to use some of my photos taken in Moray for the next issue of the magazine. As you can imagine I was pretty excited at the idea and its not every day you have the opportunity to have photos published in a magazine so I said yes. I initially assumed that they would be wanting to use a couple of images but it turns out that they would like to use up to seven of my images over a 9 page photo feature which means that the images should be fairly large. In addition to this I had to do a short telephone interview with them which was a new experience to me. They really just wanted to know a little more about my photography, one of the questions they asked was what inspired me to take photos, for some reason I found this quite difficult to answer because so many things inspire me and it was hard to put it in to a nice short answer for them….I think his could be a topic for a later blog post.

I supplied Scottish Field with the images that you can see below, hopefully they will use all of them.
